それは、街全体がプラットホームのようだ。 ニューヨークの人々が利用する地下鉄に乗っているとき、この国の日常に参加している感覚を最も得られる。地下鉄はお世辞にも綺麗とは言えない。屋根がぽっかり空いていて、雨が降ればそこから雨が落ちてくる駅もある。日本にいれば、「早く修理すれば良いのに」と思っただろうけど、「雨の日は傘を持っているんだから、傘をさせば良い」と思えた。地下鉄に乗っていると、突然音楽が流れてくる。バイオリンやギター、歌やダンス。生活に困窮している内容の演説がはじまり、紙コップを持って回ってくる。そして何人かが1ドルをそのコップの中へ入れる。その光景は、折りたたみ式の仮設ステージのようだ。目的地へ向かっている 途中での限られた時間の中、強制的とはいえ”道草”が向こうからやってくる。そして、ステージは少し高い位置にあるのではなく、座っている座席のすぐ隣にある。生活の隣に同じ高さで舞台があるようだ。折りたたみ式の舞台を乗せた電車がホームを点々とし、別のプラットホームへ人々を運ぶ。私にとって、地下鉄がNYという街の象徴のように思える。突然始まる見知らぬ人同士の会話や、すぐ隣に座る人の人種も多様だ。そして、困った人に手を差し伸べる瞬発力を皆が持っているように思った。安全のサインかもしれないが、1日が良いものに変わる程の微笑みを何度か貰った。その笑顔でさえもスポットライトが当たったようで特別な光景にも思える。

この街での日常は、私の生活と制作の距離にとても似ている。私の作品は場所によって作品を変換、置換できる。ニューヨークで暮らす人々の素直で柔軟な姿勢は手探りでつくり進める私のスタイルに近い気がしている。それが、ここにいる心地良さなのかもしれない。少々雑多で混沌としているような街で、何を選び何を間違うのか、そして何に出会うのか。
そんな空間で私も仮設ステージを広げてみようと思う。作品を持って座席に座ればすぐにそこに舞台が立ち上がる。持って歩けば移動式の展覧会だ。ここで暮らす人々を支える地下での出来事になぞらえて、仮設の展覧会を開催する。

That is the whole city like platform.
When I am using the subway , I can get the sense with which participate in daily life of people in NY most.
When I take the subway, music is being heard suddenly. Violin and guitar,singing and dancing. Some people begin to speech of content that is pitiful in their lives,and around a seat with paper cups. And someone of them put the 1 dollar into the paper cup.
That sight seems to be a temporary folding stage. In the limited time on the way to the destination, Although it is compulsory, the exhibition starts suddenly.
The stage is not Higher, but next to us. The subway loaded with a foldable stage runs through the basement of New York. I think the subway is a symbol of New York. Conversation between strangers. Race is also various. I think that everyone has the instantaneous force to help troubled people. It might be asign of safety,but I got a smile that makes me feel good a day. The smile looked like a spotlight, which looked like a special sight.

Daily life in this city is similar to my creative style. My art work can be changed and replaced by location. Honest and flexible posture of people, It fits my creative style to create while checking the feel. What do I choose, what will I make a mistake, and what will I encounter? I think that I will try to do the temporary stage in the city. If I sit on a seat with my art work, the stage appears immediately there. If I walk with it, it is mobile exhibition. Temporary exhibition were held the events in the same way as the events in the subway supporting people living here.
